T��ɫ��Ƶ is pleased to announce the establishment of the Sternberg Family Professor of Leadership at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. The endowed professorship is a gift from Seymour (Sy) Sternberg ’65, ’10 (hon.) and Laurie Sternberg and honors the late General Colin Powell. The Sternbergs originally established the Sternberg Lecture in Public Service at the Colin Powell School in 2014. It is designed to foster conversations about relevant public and policy related discussions and will be continued under the auspice of this new endowed professorship

Max Sehaumpai, a junior pursuing a double major in applied mathematics and computer science, is the recipient of a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. He’s the sixth City College of New York undergraduate in seven years to be recognized nationally by the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The federally funded scholarship is America’s premier award for undergraduates majoring in math, science and engineering. Celebrated poet, memoirist and educator Reginald Dwayne Betts is the featured poet at the 50th annual City College Poetry Festival on May 6 in CCNY’s Marian Anderson Theater. Dubbed “the Woodstock of the Spoken Word,” New York’s longest-running poetry celebration will also include Ukrainian essayist and translator Vasyl Makhno as guest poet. Rangel was a trailblazer who left the House of Representatives with a huge legacy in his relentless push for inner city development. A new $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) to Associate Professors Nancy Stern and Tatyana Kleyn continues the two City College of New York educators’ mission to advance the preparation of teachers to serve the needs of multilingual students in New York City.
