This panel discussion examines the tragic events that took place on January 12 of 1972 that led to the death of Amaury Germ谩n Aristy and three other members of the left wing urban guerilla known as Los Palmeros, killed in combat during a standoff with the Dominican military. The panelists discuss the life and legacy ofAmaury Germ谩nAristy as leader of the "Comandos de la Resistencia" (Military Resistance Units) formed in the aftermath of the 1965 Revolution and U.S. military intervention with the aim of overthrowing the authoritarian regime of President Joaqu铆n Balaguer.
