showcases the work of City College students and others who report and write about issues that affect our communities throughout the city and beyond. Our students have won awards the Society of Professional Journalists and from the College Media Association. 

In 2024:

Rhiannon Rashidi won in the online video news category in the Northeast Region, Society of Professional Journal Mark of Excellence competition. Her story explored the Coney Island community's opposition to a casino  

Othneil Cassie Jr. was a finalist in the arts and entertainment category for his story . Astra Montanez was a finalist in the general news reporting category for her story about migrant children and .

Lizbeth Fuentes is a in the news video category of the College Media Association's Pinnacle Awards for her story about the tension between restaurants and food vendors in Jackson Heights. The winner will be announced in late October.

In 2023: Gary Hilborn won first place for best online feature video in the  Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards for his story about a group that works with elderly LBGTQ+ people in Harlem.

Maricela Niola won  for best online news video for her story about Brooklyn Street vendors struggling after the pandemic.

Rhiannon Rashidi won third place in the Crisis Reporting category of the College Media Association's .

Josue Rodriguez won for his multimedia report about development around the Broadway Junction subway station. 

In 2022:

Anthony Ruiz won first place in the category of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards for his report on a group that delivers food to a housing development.

Kianoa Presbitero was a finalist in the  category of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards for his report about City College students and online learning.

Flora Lennihan was a finalist in the category of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards for her story about people making it through the pandemic with the help of Balkan folk dancing.

Samantha Alvarez was a finalist in the category of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards for her story about fires in the Bronx.

Megan Lei was a finalist in the category for her story about fear in the Asian community. 

In 2021:

Susan Thorson, Managing Editor of HarlemView, won for best Online Digital News Videography for her story .

Samir Domingo won for Best Online Feature for .

Sajina Shrestha was a finalist for Best Online Feature for  .

HarlemView finished as a finalist for the Best Online Independent Student Publication.
