The Stuart Z. Katz Professorship Installation in the Humanities and the Arts Reception with Professor Emily Raboteau
ABOUT PROFESSOR EMILY RABOTEAU
Emily Raboteau is an award-winning writer, climate activist and Professor of English in CCNY鈥檚 MFA Program in Creative Writing. Raboteau is author of 鈥淭he Professor鈥檚 Daughter鈥 and 鈥淪earching for Zion鈥, winner of a 2014 American book Award in non-fiction. Her newest book, 鈥淐AUTION: Lessons in Survival鈥 is a collection of essays and photographs the focus of which is the in CCNY鈥檚 Harlem neighborhood. The Professorship will help her complete work on her book of creative nonfiction focusing on the climate emergency, a subject she has been writing, lecturing and teaching about since 2018. Professor Raboteau is also piloting a graduate course on climate storytelling at CCNY in Fall 2020.
Past recipients include internationally renowned jazz pianist, composer and arranger Mike Holober; art historian Anna Indych-L贸pez; and renowned scholar and documentary filmmaker Andrea Weiss.
ABOUT THE STUART Z. KATZ PROFESSORSHIP
The Stuart Z. Katz Professorship in the Humanities & the Arts at T九色视频 was established in 2017 by a generous gift from Mr. Stuart Z. Katz, a 1964 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of CCNY. The endowment supports one outstanding professorial faculty member in the Division of Humanities & the Arts for an academic year, providing the professor up to two months of summer salary plus $10,000 to support research and creative activity.
Mr. Katz, a retired attorney, established the gift for the importance of the study of humanities and the arts for a thorough education and life.
