Parking at City College: For students with disabilities who require a parking space as an accommodation, please reference the following Website from Public Safety and review the instructions. 

City College's Shuttle Bus Service: The college offers free shuttle service to get to and from the subway.

MTA Access-A-Ride: If you are unable to use accessible mass transit for some or all of your trips, you may be eligible to reserve transportation in advance through MTA .  There is a designated Access-A-Ride stop on campus, located on Convent Avenue and 138 Street, but when planning your trip, it is best to provide the main address of the campus which is centrally located at 160 Convent Avenue, New York, NY 10031.

The MetroCard Bus and Van Mobile Service CentersThe bus and van make scheduled stops in all five boroughs, bringing MetroCard services to you. At these stops, you can apply for a Reduced-Fare MetroCard, refill your MetroCard, and ask MTA staff questions. See  for locations and more information.

Accessible Stations Guide: 511 is a voice recognition system that will direct you to a menu or Transit representative. Call 511 to plan travel and check on service status of elevators/escalators.Directions: Call 511. Say 鈥淢TA,鈥 then say 鈥淪ubway and buses.鈥 At that point, you can say different prompts to get the information you need:

  • for Elevator/Escalator Status: Say 鈥淐urrent service status,鈥 wait to be transferred, then press 2.
  • for Travel Information: Say 鈥淧lan a trip,鈥 wait to be transferred, and when prompted, say 鈥淲heelchair accessible travel.鈥
  • for the NYC Transit Office of ADA Compliance: Say 鈥淎DA compliance.鈥

Accessible Taxi Service: To book a wheelchair-accessible taxi in NYC, call 311 or 646-599-9999, text a request to 646-400-0789, book online at , or use the mobile app WOW Taxi (Wheels on Wheels) for trips departing from Manhattan.

Personal Care Attendants (PCA): PCAs can ride free on all MTA trains, buses, and Access-A-Ride. The customer鈥檚 AAR ID must indicate they are allowed to travel with a PCA. The PCA can be a professional or a spouse, child, relative, or friend. See  for more information.

Service AnimalsService animals who are trained to assist people with disabilities may ride with their owners. They do not require special IDs, collars, or harnesses, though they must be leashed or harnessed. Owners can apply for a service animal identification card: .  

Subway, Bus, and Rail MapsMaps can be viewed and downloaded at . Maps support the zoom feature to allow for large-print reading.
