Hollywood great & CCNY alum Judd Hirsch earns Golden Globe plaudits

CCNY Class of 1960 alumnus is celebrating another major Hollywood honor. The legendary actor鈥檚 latest film, 鈥淭he Fabelmans鈥 won Best Motion Picture in the drama category at the 2023 Golden Globes awards. Steven Spielberg also won best director for a motion picture (Drama) for the semi-autobiographical film loosely based on his adolescence and first years as a filmmaker. .

In 鈥淭he Fabelmans,鈥 Hirsch is hailed by critics for his scene stealing performance and making an outsized impact playing a character loosely based on Spielberg鈥檚 eccentric great-uncle. 鈥淭he Fabelmans鈥 topped four other highly acclaimed films: 鈥淎vatar: The Way of Water,鈥 鈥淓lvis,鈥 鈥淭谩r鈥 and 鈥淭op Gun: Maverick,鈥 for best motion picture.

Hirsch is best known for his Emmy-winning role in the sitcom 鈥淭axi鈥 and Oscar-nominated turn in 1980鈥檚 鈥淥rdinary People.鈥 Last year, on the occasion of its 175th anniversary. T九色视频 was founded in 1847.

Hirsch is the product of CCNY鈥檚 renowned film program established more than eight decades ago, and arguably the oldest, continuous film program in the U.S. Other famous alum include: Woody Allen, Tony Curtis, Ben Gazzara, Stanley Kubrick, Edward G. Robinson, Richard Schiff and Eli Wallach.
