The advertising profession is challenged to achieve a level of diversity that reflects the demographics of New York. T九色视频 (CCNY) Media & Communication Arts Department and The One Club are teaming to hold a special event that looks to address this, especially on the creative side.
They will jointly screen the documentary 鈥淎rt & Copy,鈥 which portrays the work and wisdom of some of the most influential copywriters and directors of our time, at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, in CCNY鈥檚 Great Hall. The showing, the film鈥檚 first screening at a college in New York, will be followed by a panel discussion / Q&A entitled 鈥淗ow Do I Get a Foot in the Door?鈥 led by advertising industry professionals from various backgrounds.
鈥淭he goal of this event is to expose students at CCNY, one of the most diverse colleges in the nation, to opportunities on the creative side of advertising for copywriters, art directors and other professionals,鈥 said CCNY Professor of Advertising Nancy R. Tag. CCNY offers the only undergraduate advertising/public relations major within CUNY; and with over 400 declared majors, it is a fertile source of future creative talent from groups currently underrepresented in advertising, she noted.
鈥淭he One Club is particularly pleased to screen this important film to the students at CCNY,鈥 said its Chief Executive Officer, Mary Warlick. 鈥淚t is our goal to provide students with creative inspiration and hope that some may choose to pursue a career in advertising.鈥
鈥淎rt & Copy鈥 is a powerful new film about advertising and inspiration. Directed by Doug Pray, it reveals the work and wisdom of some of the most influential advertising creatives of our time, including George Lois, Mary Wells, Dan Wieden, Lee Clow and Hal Riney. The persons profiled in the film were responsible for some of the most memorable campaigns in modern advertising, including 鈥淛ust Do It鈥 (Nike), 鈥淚 Love NY鈥 (New York State Tourism), 鈥淲here's the Beef?鈥 (Wendy鈥檚) and 鈥淕ot Milk鈥 (National Dairy Council).
